BROTHER LITTLE SISTERS STRIVING FOR SUCCESS slideshow
One of our schols Premier Student Activities is The Little Brother Little Sisters
Striving for Success (LBSSS) which was founded on November 8, 2006
by Solomon Homidas. The first original founding members were Dr.
Edith C. Hall (our former Principal and currently a Region 3 Director),
Ms. L. Sharpe, Ms. T. Kinchens, Mr. F. Saint, Mr. L. Eason and
Mr.
J. Ellis.
The purpose of the program is to educate and motivate students to make the right
choices in life as well as to help them define what it takes to be
successful. Students receive mentor teachers who will be able to
answer appropriate questions and concerns of each student. The doors
are open to all 2nd - 5th grade students at Van E. Blanton Elementary
School.
Boys learn about manners, decision making, self control
and other important character building skills. Additionally, they
learn
how to play football and basketball. Girls will learn about ettiquette,
manners, politeness, and other life skills. They participate in
cheerleading, dance, and "stepping." This is a positive organization
that is geared towards students reaching their fullest potential
and planning for the future and beyond.
We believe there comes a time in every child's life when just getting good grades
in school is not enough. Students need to be inspired, cherished,
taught, and encouraged to have hopes and dreams. "Every child is
a winner everyday" here at Van E. Blanton Elementary School. We want our future doctors, lawyers,
engineers, and teachers to come to the realization that they are
indeed awesome!
